TRYING TO CATEGORIZE YOUR IDEA/BUSINESS ?

Typically, these clients are companies that have already received an initial round or multiple rounds of funding and are now in the process of developing a portfolio of products or services as companion products/services or are actively selling their existing products/services. These kinds of clients may have in-house attorneys, but may not necessarily have in-house intellectual property counsel and may need assistance developing, monetizing or leveraging their intellectual property portfolios.

Typically, these clients are either small companies, partnerships or individuals that usually have some form of minimal initial funding, whether the funds have come from investors, loans or other sources. These kinds of clients usually have some intellectual property on file or sometimes have not yet filed anything, but may be developing a product/service that is not yet significantly commercialized. Usually, these types of clients do not have in-house counsel of any form, but may have arrangements with general practice or business attorneys and now need assistance with developing an Intellectual Property strategy to protect their Intellectual Property Assets.

Typically these are individuals or friends/acquaintances that have come up with an idea, but do not yet know if it is viable and usually have not determined how to proceed, whether by manufacturing and selling a product/service or by licensing or selling their intellectual property to a third party. These clients may have had previous contact with attorneys, but normally have not had the opportunity to work with patent or intellectual property attorneys to obtain, defend or assert intellectual property assets.
